Although Duke himself is currently travelling through the US in a search for fresh inspiration, it’s business as usual at Duke’s Lounge.
You can still come in to get your caffeine fix (not to mention an Epic Bacon & Egg Roll) but if you miss the man behind the machine you can also follow him via his personal blog at
Reality Impromptu – The Pianos and Fortes of a 30-year-old Restauranteur.
It’s all about passion! Welcome to Duke’s Lounge, twice awarded as Sydney’s best café in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Café Guide for the ‘One Cup’ category (awarded for 2012, 2013, and featured in 2014).
Besides being featured in various magazines and industry media, to put it quite simply, we love what we do. We have dedicated baristas pulling perfect shots of espresso and our menu is designed to cater towards filling up hungry stomachs.
From our classic Bacon and Egg Rolls, to our cross-cultural introduction of the Bangkok Breakfast,
Duke’s very own ‘Canadian Heartbreakers’ to our Big Breakfast,
Duke’s Lounge has been commented as serving an impressive range of over forty dishes to choose from, made for all tastes and budgets using the freshest ingredients and cooked to order.
At Duke’s Lounge, you will experience a true café culture presented to you by our passionate staff. Our barista area is the showcase of the floor. Having the espresso machine facing the audience, you will be able to witness coffee perfection.
We use only the very best coffee, a specialty seasonal blend created by Gina Di Brita of Numero Uno called ‘Picasso’. These 100% Arabica beans grown at 1,100 metres above sea above or higher are sourced seasonally to ensure quality and freshness. Only beans that are less than a week old from the roasting period are allowed through our grinders. To enhance quality and goodness, we only use milk by A2 Milk, which is free of permeates and is made up by a single protein called a2. This results in a creamier milk which is both easy on your stomach and also complements our espresso blend, highlighting all the best flavour characteristics to deliver to you a cup of coffee perfection. We even put importance into our decaffeinated coffee. Using Swiss-water-processed single origin beans from Mexico, we dare you to tell the difference in taste and quality.
Our teas are conjured by Australia’s only known TeaMaster: Tjok Kerthyasa of TeaCraft, who also supply Tetsuya’s, Matt Moran’s restaurants, Mrs. G’s, and The Observatory Hotel, just to name a few. TeaCraft’s teas are sourced from their countries of origin personally by the TeaCraft team themselves, then blended by hand in a secret location in Sydney.
TeaCraft are masters of all teas, from the famous black teas to green teas and competition grade teas, therefore we can guarantee that you’re getting the best of the best.
Next is our retail coffee shelf, where you can buy the coffee beans we use, fresh from Numero Uno to you. Alongside are our range of artisanal teas by TeaCraft. Coffee accessories for the home barista, including the Aeropress, pour over equipment, siphons, and coffee parts by Hario Gear Japan can also be ordered through us if you don’t see it on our shelves.
In the near future, we will be adding a tea appreciation section and a coffee laboratory where we will be showcasing the amazing tastes and aromas we have purveyed for Duke’s Lounge, delivered to you as art.
So, next time you’re around, please visit us!
